Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 August 2026

1. Introduction

Clutch (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates a platform that enables users to participate in, organise, and manage multi-sport tournaments. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our app and website.

Please read this policy together with the consent you provide when you register. Where required by law, we rely on your consent to process your personal data. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see Section 12).

2. Who We Are

Clutch is operated by Clutch Pvt. Ltd., based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Clutch Pvt. Ltd. is the data fiduciary responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

Payments made through Clutch are collected and settled by Rogers Inc, which acts as the merchant of record for those transactions under an arrangement with Clutch Pvt. Ltd.. Rogers Inc may appear as the merchant on your card or bank statement, and issues any refunds due to you.

3. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

Personal Information

  • Name (and display name, if different)
  • Username — a public handle, assigned when your account is created and changeable by you
  • Phone number, where you sign up or verify with one
  • Email address, where you sign in with Google or Apple. We receive it from that provider already verified; we never ask you to type an email address, and we do not send marketing to it.
  • Profile details you choose to add (e.g. photo, city, preferred sports)

Tournament Information

  • Events and teams registered
  • Match fixtures, scores, and results
  • Performance data (wins/losses, rankings, statistics, ratings)

Usage Information

  • App and website usage data
  • Device and browser information (e.g. device type, operating system, app version)
  • Approximate location, only where you grant permission

Payment Information

  • Where you make a payment, transaction details are processed by our third-party payment gateway. We do not collect or store your full card, UPI, or bank credentials on our servers (see Section 8).

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Enable tournament registration and participation
  • Generate fixtures, schedules, scores, and results
  • Display player and team profiles, rankings, leaderboards, and statistics
  • Process payments and registrations
  • Communicate updates related to tournaments you are part of
  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests
  • Improve platform performance, safety, and user experience
  • Send marketing or promotional messages, only where you have consented (see Section 6)

5. Public Match Information & Visibility

Clutch is a competitive tournament platform. To run fixtures, show live scores, publish results, and maintain leaderboards, certain information is visible to other participants, organisers, and viewers on the platform. This includes:

  • Your name or display name
  • Your username
  • Your team affiliation
  • Match scores and results
  • Rankings and performance statistics

Your phone number is not public

Your phone number is never shown on fixtures, scoreboards, leaderboards, public profiles, or any page a visitor can reach without signing in. Where a player has not set a display name, we show their username — never their number.

Other players cannot search for you by phone number or email address. They find you by username or name. This is deliberate: it means being findable on Clutch does not require giving your number to anyone.

Your phone number is visible only to:

  • You, on your own profile
  • Organisers of a tournament you have entered, for that tournament — so they can reach you about your matches, check-in, or a payment issue. It is masked by default in their view and must be deliberately revealed.
  • Someone who already knew it — for example, a partner who entered your number to register the two of you before you had an account

If another person enters you into an event, we notify you and give you a way to say it was not you. Doing so flags the entry for the organiser to resolve.

This information may also appear on shareable result cards, public profiles, and leaderboards. By registering for a tournament, you acknowledge and consent to this visibility as a core function of the service. If you do not wish this information to be visible, you should not register for a public tournament.

6. Communication & Marketing

Transactional messages. When you register, you will receive service-related messages necessary to run your tournaments, such as fixture updates, match notifications, and important announcements. These are part of the service.

Promotional messages. We will only send you marketing or promotional communications where you have separately consented. You can opt out of these at any time.

Messages may be sent via WhatsApp, SMS, or email. To stop promotional messages, use the opt-out option provided in the message or contact us at clutch.united.hq@gmail.com.

7. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties.

We share limited data only as needed to run the service:

  • Tournament organisers: for managing the events you register for
  • Payment gateway: Razorpay, to process payments securely
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers: AWS (EC2, S3) and Cloudflare, to run and store the platform
  • Analytics providers: Firebase Crashlytics, to understand and improve app usage
  • Messaging providers: Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications) and Firebase Phone Auth (OTP), to send you notifications and OTP for authentication

These providers are permitted to use your data only to provide services to us, and under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations. We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

8. Payments

Payments are processed by a PCI-DSS-compliant third-party payment gateway, with Rogers Inc as the merchant of record. Clutch does not collect or store your full card number, UPI PIN, or bank credentials. We may retain limited transaction records (such as amount, date, and status) for accounting and support purposes.

The gateway receives the details necessary to process your payment and handles them under its own privacy policy and its obligations as a regulated payment processor.

Where an event requires a payment screenshot, the image you upload is stored so the organiser can verify your payment, and is deleted when you delete your account.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, maintain tournament records, and comply with legal obligations. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.

You can delete your account and personal data yourself at any time, from within the Clutch app — see Deleting your account for the exact steps and for what is removed. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Two categories survive deletion. Match results, scores and standings are shared records that belong to every participant in a match, so they remain with your name replaced by an anonymised placeholder. Order and payment records are retained because we are legally required to keep transaction records for tax and accounting purposes. Nothing personally identifying you remains in either.

10. Data Storage & Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will act in accordance with applicable law.

11. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Withdraw consent previously given (this will not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal)
  • Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, as provided under applicable law

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

12. Grievance Officer

If you have any concerns or complaints about how your data is handled, you may contact our Grievance Officer:

  • Name: Eric Rogers
  • Email: clutch.united.hq@gmail.com
  • Address: 72, Ghuma 89 Residency Vibhusha Bungalow Road, Bopal, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, 380058

We will acknowledge and address grievances within the timelines required by applicable law.

13. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Your data may be stored or processed on servers located outside India by our hosting and service providers. Where this occurs, we take steps to ensure your data is handled in line with this policy and applicable law.

14. Cookies & Tracking (Website)

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the website functions.

15. User Responsibility

You are responsible for providing accurate information and for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Please notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you of significant changes. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

17. Users Under 18

Parental Consent

Because many sports events, leagues, and competitions include age categories for participants under 18, Clutch may need to collect, use, and track certain sports-related activity and achievement data (such as event registrations, scores, rankings, and performance history) for users who are minors.

Before a user under the age of 18 can create an account on Clutch, a parent or legal guardian must review this Privacy Policy and confirm consent by checking the parental consent box presented during account creation.

By checking this box and completing registration, the parent or legal guardian confirms that they:

  • Have read and understood this Privacy Policy;
  • Consent to Clutch collecting, storing, and using their child's sports activity and achievement data as described herein;
  • Agree, on behalf of their child, to be bound by Clutch's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Data Protections for Minors

Accounts belonging to users under 18 have additional restrictions and safeguards built in to protect their data rights, including:

  • Limited visibility of personal information to other users;
  • No use of minors' data for targeted advertising;
  • No sale or sharing of minors' personal information with third parties for marketing purposes;
  • Restricted access to certain social or communication features within the app;
  • Data collection limited to what is reasonably necessary for participation in sports activities and tracking achievements.

Parental Rights and Oversight

If a parent or guardian believes their child has created a Clutch account without their knowledge or consent, or wishes to have their child's account removed, they may contact our support team to report the issue. We will review and resolve such requests promptly, which may include suspending or deleting the account and associated data.

Limitation of Responsibility

While Clutch implements safeguards to protect the data and experience of users under 18, Clutch is not responsible for other activities a minor may engage in while using the app that fall outside the scope of data collected and controlled by Clutch (for example, conduct occurring outside the platform or through third-party services not operated by Clutch).

Our Commitment

Clutch is committed to protecting the personal data of all users, especially minors. Specifically, Clutch will not:

  • Use a minor's personal information for targeted advertising;
  • Disclose a minor's personal information to third parties, except as required to operate core app functionality (e.g., facilitating participation in a sports event) or as required by law.

Additional Provisions for Users in India

Clutch operates its services in India and complies with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) with respect to Indian users. Under the DPDPA:

  • Any user under the age of 18 is treated as a “child,” and processing of their personal data requires verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian before account creation is completed.
  • Clutch does not undertake tracking or behavioural monitoring of children, and does not serve targeted advertising directed at children, in each case except where an exemption applies under the DPDPA or its rules (for example, certain platforms providing services exclusively for child safety, or subject to conditions the Central Government may notify).
  • Parents or guardians may withdraw consent at any time by contacting our support team, following which Clutch will cease processing the child's personal data and, where applicable, delete the associated account and data, except where retention is required by law.
  • Indian users (or their parents/guardians, on their behalf) have the right to access, correct, and request erasure of personal data, and to file a complaint with Clutch's Grievance Officer, and thereafter with the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved.
